Villegas is still in search of his first win on the PGA TOUR and East Lake might not be a bad place for that. Villegas played in the 2001 U.S. Amateur here. With a 68 in the stroke-play portion, the Colombian easily made it in to the field of 64 for the match-play before losing his third-round match to University of Florida teammate Bubba Dickerson, 1 up. Six years later, Villegas could be the best young player on TOUR never to have won -- and it's only his second season out here. Having played his way into East Lake with a tie for ninth in the Deutsche Bank Championship and a tie for seventh in the BMW Championship, expect the hot play to continue.

There's not much wiggle room for selections this week (non-winners, out of the world top 30, no top-five finishes last five starts). Of the thin pool, this guy stands out as he rolls along after two splashy finishes (tied seventh at BMW Championship after tied ninth at Deutsche Bank Championship). If he can ace his debut in THE TOUR Championship, it pushes him that much closer to the world top 50 (he's 73rd going into the week).

His last two finishes on the PGA TOUR? A tie for ninth and a tie for seventh. If anyone knows how to turn it on in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, it's Villegas, who moved from 34th in the standings last week into 28th place to secure a spot in Atlanta. And beating an elite field would be the perfect way to capture his first TOUR victory.

The sleeper pool has been whittled to four and, with all due respect to Camillo, John Rollins and Robert Allenby, Slocum stands out in this mind. He's a solid player who's often underrated. He started the season strong and, well, there's no reason he can't finish off the playoffs on a high. No, he hasn't played this course, but he's got the patience to hang in there when conditions aren't as perfect as everyone would like.

He's been very quiet after a torrid start to the year. He may recapture some of the magic he had the first part of the 2007 season.

He's playing in his first TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. The young Colombian comes to East Lake playing well, too, with ties for ninth and seventh in his last two starts. Can he join Chad Campbell in winning in his debut?

He's had a nice run in the FedExCup playoffs, and playing with Tiger Woods last week at the BMW Championship probably was great experience for the young man.
