Expert Picks: The TOUR Championship

Pick: Tiger Woods.

Obviously, he's the favorite whenever he tees it up. Add to that the fact that he comes to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola on fire with wins in three of his last four starts -- his worst finish in that stretch was a tie for second at the Deutsche Bank Championship -- and, well, picking him was easier than ever this week. But, in case he needs added incentive, here it is: Woods has never won at East Lake, and he has the opportunity to be the first winner of the FedExCup.

Pick: Tiger Woods.

Spotty greens, curtailed practice, tons of pressure and the first-ever playoff title. Does that sound like the time to go against this guy? Didn't think so.

Pick: Zach Johnson.

In the state of Georgia in 2007, it's Zach Johnson: 2, Rest of the PGA TOUR: 0. In fact, Johnson's three career wins on TOUR have come in the Peach State, and two were in Atlanta, where the TOUR is playing this week. Plus, no player has ever won THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola more than one time, so Johnson could continue that streak by taking the tournament from favorites and past champions like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh.

No waffling here. No second thoughts about the iffy greens. No wondering if this, then ... Stricks is playing the best golf of his career. Lefty can still turn a straight-forward par 4 into a winning roller coaster ride. But, honestly, no one does big stages better than Tiger. He's simply the best. He won the event when it was played at Champions but hasn't pulled it off at East Lake. Time to end that. In a shootout.

Pick: Tiger Woods

I picked him to prevail in the FedExCup, so how can I pick against him here? If he putts like he did in the final round at Cog Hill, this will be a runaway.

Pick:Tiger Woods

I picked Tiger Woods to win the inaugural FedExCup so I can't pick against him here. He's never won at East Lake, but he's been runner-up three times, including two of the last three years. Not to mention, he's coming off a win at the BMW Championship and a tie for second the previous week. He may have to do some heavy lifting come Sunday with two trophies to hoist.

Pick: Tiger Woods.

With all due respect to Phil Mickelson, Woods won't let anyone beat him twice in three weeks. Mickelson might be fresher, but Woods is fitter, and he didn't exactly have to wear himself out the last three days to prepare for the finale of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. Woods has never won at East Lake. Last we checked, he hadn't been a good fit for Southern Hills either, and he did OK at the PGA Championship there. The short East Lake layout means Tiger can bench driver, a huge extra benefit for the game's best player.

Champions Tour expert Lauren Deason gives us her thoughts on who will win the Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn:

Loren Roberts has only won once this season. For the Boss of the Moss, who won four times in 2006, that's quite the shocker. It's not that Roberts hasn't played well -- he has earned a top-five finish 11 times in 18 tries this year -- but he hasn't been able to come through with more than one victory. Look for him to earn a win in North Carolina at the Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn.
