| Jul. 19, 2007 Who could win? Tournament Coverage Play TOUR Fantasy Games Which player could surprise at this weekend's U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee? Our experts weigh in: T.J. Auclair PGATOUR.com Interactive Producer Pick: Billy Andrade Andrade has finished in the top 10 in three of his last five starts at the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee. After a tie for fourth in 2004 and a missed cut in 2005, the Rhode Island native tied for sixth in 2006. Struggling through the first half of the 2007 season, Andrade has picked up his game considerably in recent weeks, making the cut in six consecutive events. Brett Avery The Fantasy Insider PGATOUR.com Contributor Pick: Anthony Kim This rounds out an even two-dozen starts on the Nationwide or PGA TOUR. In a bygone era that would make for a good time to post a first top-10 in one's career. Instead he's looking for his 10th top-20 against only six missed cuts (including last week's John Deere Classic). Do you realize he's ranked 16th on TOUR in scoring average (70.72) and first in final-round scoring (69.14)? Lauren Deason PGATOUR.com Editorial Coordinator Pick: Bill Haas In the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun, a tournament held opposite the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship, Haas earned his best finish of the year with a solo fifth place. This week, Haas will again play in an event opposite another tournament, competing in the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee while others duel overseas in the British Open. The Milwaukee event is one that his dad Jay won, therefore Bill has a lot to live up to, but he recently tied for 30th in the AT&T National and seems to be back on track after missing six straight mid-season cuts. Melanie Hauser PGATOUR.com Correspondent Pick: Anthony Kim I figure if I stick with 2007 PGA TOUR rookie Anthony Kim long enough, he'll finish what he starts. The 22-year-old who turned pro after three years at the University of Oklahoma has a ton of talent and he's at the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee with a bunch of his friends -- yep, the old guys. Can you say comfort zone? Dave Lagarde PGATOUR.com Correspondent Pick: Skip Kendall This is a home game for the native son and Kendall should have lots of incentive this week. The veteran is making only his fifth PGA TOUR start of the season, but he knows how to go low at Brown Deer Park as his opening-round 65 in '06 at the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee can attest. Helen Ross PGATOUR.com Chief of Correspondents Pick: Frank Lickliter Frank Lickliter tied for fourth at Brown Deer Park last year so he has a comfort zone there. He's played in 10 straight U.S. Bank Championships in Milwaukee, in fact, and he has three top-10s and five top-20s. So this is as good a place as any for Lickliter to turn things around. Dave Shedloski PGATOUR.com Senior Correspondent Pick: Jesper Parnevik To be labeled the sleeper of the opposite field event to a major might sound equivalent to being selected fire hydrant manager at the Westminster Dog Show. You don't get much respect until you do your job. Heath Slocum was a compelling choice, but anyone who is coming off a top-10 finish (Slocum was T6 at John Deere) doesn't qualify as a sleeper, even if he officially meets the criteria. Parnevik, who nearly won the British Open in '94, is not only on his game, but also the right age; seven of the 13 winners at Brown Deer Park have been 40 or older. He's a birdie converter who has played well for a stretch. It's time he won again. |
