Pick: Tiger Woods
It's always easy to pick Tiger to win, but especially this week in the BMW Championship at Cog Hill, where he's had loads of success. In 11 starts, Woods has seven tops-10s, including three wins and two runner-up finishes -- both of those in the last two years. Add to that the fact that this is the third event of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup and Tiger was edged by Phil Mickelson last week at the TPC Boston and there's probably some added motivation. With Mickelson sitting out, if Tiger can win it'll set up a terrific showdown next week in THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola.

So he gets to watch the back half of Phil Mickelson during a final round, hardly the vantage he wants when it comes to winning. The Mickelson camp gets its laugh in at the Deutsche Bank Championship, but Woods practically owns Cog Hill (and Chicago) and will show it during the BMW Championship.

There's just no way Tiger is going to lose the first FedExCup. But if he wants to kiss the trophy before anyone else, Tiger is going to have to take advantage of No. 1 Phil Mickelson's off-week, win the BMW Championship and establish a sizeable lead heading into THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. And what better place to do that than Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, where Tiger has won three times (1997, 1999, 2003) and finished second for the past two years?

He loves Cog Hill. He's won there three of the last nine times he played and finished second the last two years. He tied for seventh the year before that. And no, we don't need to remind him what didn't fall last week and what could have been.

A win here puts Tiger where he should be, back on top of the FedExCup standings -- and what better place than Cog Hill where Woods has won three times and has three additional top-10s, including a pair of seconds, in nine starts. It's Tiger's time in South Chicago again.

I know this is going to come as a shock but I am going with Tiger Woods this week. He has won here three times. He is the best player in the world. Oh, and he isn't very happy right now. He was frustrated that his hard work was not rewarded with a win at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Tiger not only wins this week, but he does it in Tiger fashion.

Once again, I wanted to be different. But let's face it, Tiger Woods owns Cog Hill with three wins and second-place finishes the last two years. He's motivated, too, after having a front-row seat for three rounds as Phil Mickelson won the Deutsche Bank Championship and took over No. 1 in the FedExCup standings.

I thought Jim Furyk might be the man, but then the TOUR Insider realized that the last time Woods was frustrated by his putting and satisfied with his ball-striking, he shot 63 at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Finishing second to Phil Mickelson at the Deutsche Bank Championship -- and trailing him in the FedExCup standings -- isn't going to sit well with the world's No. 1 player. A three-time winner at Cog Hill, Woods no doubt heads to Chicago intent on cleaning up more than just his work on the greens.
