Byron's Work for the Kids Continues

Byron Nelson's work for the kids continues through the programs of Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming children's futures through education and mental health services. The EDS Byron Nelson Championship is proud to carry on Byron's legacy of helping children and families which, in his own words, meant more to him than anything he accomplished on the golf course.

Since 1968, Byron helped us raise $94 million for our charity, in turn helping more than 30,000 children and families over the years. The Championship will reach the $100 million milestone in charitable giving this year, more than any other event on the PGA TOUR.

"The work of Byron Nelson continues today, thanks to the EDS Byron Nelson Championship," said Kent Skipper, PhD, executive director, Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers. "Our services for children and families strive to reflect his lifelong commitment to caring and excellence."

The EDS Byron Nelson Championship, the first PGA TOUR event named for a professional golfer, has raised more money for charity than any other stop on the PGA TOUR, largely due to Mr. Nelson's involvement. The 2006 Championship donated more than $6.4 million to Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers.

"Byron and Peggy Nelson worked year-round to make the PGA TOUR event a success. Funds raised at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship allow children and families who otherwise couldn't afford needed mental health and education services to receive them," said Mac Wesson, president, Salesmanship Club of Dallas. "Byron Nelson was an inspiring role model for all of us."
