First Tee coming to the Piedmont Triad GREENSBORO, N.C. --Wyndham Championship Tournament Director Mark Brazil announced Sunday that The First Tee is coming to the Piedmont Triad. Brazil was joined by Jeff Howard, president of GolfFore! Fun, Inc., the nonprofit corporation responsible for The First Tee of the Triad. The Chapter is currently in development and is expected to reach full Chapter status by the end of the year. "We are extremely delighted to be bringing one of the premier youth development programs to the Triad. The First Tee introduces the great sport of golf to kids that otherwise might not have the opportunity to play. But more importantly, The First Tee promotes character development and life-enhancing values that will positively impact young people in the Triad and everyone connected with the program," said Howard, who also serves as The First Tee of the Triad executive director. The First Tee of the Triad will be located at Winston Lake Golf Course in Winston-Salem and includes an 18-hole facility, practice area and shelter suitable for teaching youth. The city of Winston-Salem and the county of Forsyth strongly support The First Tee and have identified Reynolds Park Golf Course and Tanglewood Golf Course as affiliate venues. Programming is expected to begin in spring 2008 and will reach over 400 young people in the Piedmont Triad area. |
