Expert Picks: Verizon Heritage Who are the sleepers? Tournament Coverage Play TOUR Fantasy Games ![]() T.J. Auclair The world's No. 2 ranked player quietly finished in a tie for 13th at last week's Masters. In his last two starts at Harbour Town, Furyk has finished second and in a tie for second, respectively. It's only a matter of time before he wins on TOUR this season. He hasn't missed a cut in eight events and has only finished outside the top 18 twice. ![]() Brett Avery The way Sam Snead owned the Greater Greensboro Open, or Jack Nicklaus owned The Masters, or Ben Hogan and Colonial or Mark OıMeara and Pebble Beach -- thatıs this guy and the Verizon Heritage. He's had five wins, 11 top-10s and a tie for 47th last year that should be completely disregarded in assessing his chances at Harbour Town Golf Links. ![]() Lauren Deason Davis Love III could join some pretty elite company this week with a victory at Harbour Town Golf Links. A win would not only secure him his 20th PGA TOUR victory, but he would also join the likes of Sam Snead, Harry Vardon, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Alex Ross by being the only players to win the same tournament six times or more. Love won the Verizon Heritage in 1987, 1991, 1992, 1998 and 2003. Including those five wins, he's finished in the top 10 an impressive 11 times in 21 starts. At the very least, he's a reliable pick to finish high and, at best, he could win in Hilton Head and earn a spot in history. ![]() Melanie Hauser He's had a strong, but not outstanding, start to the season. He's had a great record here and survived four days in Augusta to finish in the top 13. We know. This is DL IIIs tournament, but it's time for win No. 1 for Furyk this season. ![]() Dave Lagarde Harbour Town is a perfect course for the PGA TOURs most consistent shotmaker. ![]()
Jim Furyk finished second here a year ago. There are few golf courses that set up better for the former U.S. Open Champ than Harbour Town. Precise iron play and a solid short game are prerequisites for success in the Low Country. Jim possesses both. Besides, being from Pennsylvania he probably won't be filling up too often on shrimp and grits. ![]() Helen Ross Look for Davis Love III to celebrate his 43rd birthday Friday in style at the Verizon Heritage. No one knows the course as well as he does, and no one has had the kind of success he's had at Harbour Town. A sixth victory there on Sunday would put Love in some pretty elite company, too. ![]() Dave Shedloski He has six top-10 finishes in eight appearances at Harbour Town, and steam should be coming out of his ears after missing the cut at the Masters. Don't know why, but a poor Masters usually leads to good things in Hilton Head. Ernie is more due for a PGA TOUR win than anyone in the world. No pressure there. ![]() The Nationwide Tour is back in action this week at the South Georgia Classic at Valdosta. PGA TOUR.com Contributor Dave Lagarde gives us his pick: Jason Day will win. The youngest player on the Nationwide Tour scores his first victory in an inaugural event. |
