The sheer scope of the makeover at the TPC Sawgrass is mind-boggling.

Simply mind-boggling.

The new clubhouse, after all, is way bigger than the White House, and the new grass areas on the course could cover 40 city blocks. And that's just the start.

Here's a Number Crunch on the renovation that will be put on display when the PLAYERS begins on May 10.

CLUBHOUSE

460The total tonage of of steel that was used in the clubhouse (330 tons of structural steel and 130 tons of rebar, steel in concrete). That's enough to build 100 armored trucks.
2,600The number of cubic yards of concrete laid to date. That's enough to fill an Olympic-size swimming pool.
11,000 The number of square feet in the new event lawn over looking Nos. 9 and 18. That's enough for four tennis courts.
63,000 The square footage of Spanish tile were used on the roof -- totaling 612,000 pounds. That's equivalent to a pair of Boeing 747s and more than 300 African elephants.
77,000The square footage of the new clubhouse. That's 40 percent larger than the White House.

GOLF COURSE

19The number of acres of sod that were used across the property, which is equivalent to 12 city blocks.
5,000The number of linear feet of new bulk head surrounding the lakes. That's equivalent to 1 mile.
26,000The tonage of sand that was used in reconstructing the Pete Dye Stadium Course (tees and fairways), which is enough to fill 10,000 sand boxes.
116,600The linear footage of underground pipe laid on the Stadium Course, which is equivalent to 22 miles.
2,600,000The square footage of new grass areas on the Stadium course. That would cover 60 acres or 40 city blocks.
