E-Notes: Success at multiple courses

The vast majority of PGA TOUR events are played on one course. You play a practice round or two, get comfortable with the greens and your yardages and off you go to play 72 holes.

In some TOUR events, however, players are presented with a far different challenge -- they must adjust to multiple courses without enough time to really get a good handle on the different conditions each presents.

With three courses (Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills) offered at next week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, it might be wise to see who has fared the best over the years in tournaments that compete over more than one course.

Phil Mickelson, a two-time winner at Pebble Beach, leads the way with 11 career wins in multiple-course tournaments. Here is his record along with several others who have excelled at mastering the challenges of multiple courses:
