SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The start of play in the second round of the FBR Open was delayed 40 minutes on Friday morning due to frost -- the low morning temperatures reached 33 degrees in the area. Starting times were pushed back 40 minutes

• Play was halted for the day at 6:01 p.m. on Friday due to darkness. The players still on the course were given the choice to finish their round. Of the 131 players in the field 113 posted scores on Friday, leaving 18 players yet to complete the second round. For Saturday, play of the suspended second round will resume at 7:40 a.m.

• Making his fourth start on the PGA TOUR in 2007, Jeff Quinney, who is 10th on the FedExCup points standings, recorded a career-low with 63 and has a three-stroke lead heading into the weekend. Quinney's previous low was a first-round 64 last week at the Buick Invitational where he finished T7. The rookie also finished T4 at the 2007 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic two weeks ago.

• Local favorite Billy Mayfair, making his 21st start in Scottsdale, continues to hang around the top of the leaderboad on Friday. He fired a 5-under 66 for an 11-under 131 36-hole total (second). The most under-par he has ever been at the event after 72-holes was 15-under 169 in 1995 when he finished runner-up to Vijay Singh. Three times Mayfair finished at 10-under 274 (2000, 2001, 2002).

• Billy Mayfair is alone in second, three strokes back of leader Jeff Quinney. The best position Mayfair best position through 36 holes at the FBR Open was in 1995 when he was tied for seventh. He was at 6-under 136, four strokes back of the lead.

• Jeff Quinney's first professional win came on the Canadian Tour when he won the 2002 Scottsdale Swing at McCormick Ranch. His first and only Nationwide Tour victory was the Oregon Classic (Eugene, Ore.), winning in front of family and friends. He graduated from South Eugene High School before moving to star at Arizona State University.

• Twelve past champions are in the field this week: Phil Mickelson (2005, 1996), Vijay Singh (2003, 1995), Chris DiMarco (2002), Mark Calcavecchia (2001, 1992, 1989), Tom Lehman (2000), Rocco Mediate (1999), Jesper Parnevik (1998), Steve Jones (1997), Lee Janzen (1993), Tommy Armour III (1990), Paul Azinger (1987) and J.B. Holmes.

• Defending Champion J.B. Holmes (74-67--141) double bogeyed his 17th hole (No. 8) on Friday and could miss the cut by one stroke. He could be the second defending champion to miss the cut in 2007. Chad Campbell missed the cut at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.

• Players who were bogey-free on Friday were Joe Ogilvie (67), Brian Davis (69), Kevin Na (68) and Davis Love III (69).
