Pick: Boo Weekley's win at the Verizon Heritage
Video: Weekley wins the Verizon Heritage | Boo's best quotes
Hands down, this category belongs to the loveable Boo Weekley. Unfortunately because of the Monday finish at the Verizon Heritage at Hilton Head, not many people were able to see Boo's miraculous performance. The man chipped in twice on the final two holes for his first TOUR victory to avoid a playoff with no less than Ernie Els. What a performance.

Pick: Scott Verplank's win at the EDS Byron Nelson Classic
Relive it: Nelson had a hand in his victory, emotional Verplank says | Video: Sunday recap
Scott Verplank was overwhelmed with emotion following his win at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship, one that was bittersweet after the loss of his friend and the tournament namesake the prior year. Verplank edged Luke Donald for his first TOUR victory in six years, making a key save for par on No. 17 to win by a stroke. No, it didn't have the "I can't believe that just happened" appeal of Padraig Harrington's crazy British Open win, but there was just something about hearing Verplank -- with one of Nelson's fedoras clutched in his hand after Nelson's widow Peggy presented it to him -- discuss a "cool breeze" amidst the heat and a calming, Nelson-like presence on the final hole that brought tears and a stirring end to the tournament.

How many twists and turns can one major have? A lot. Especially when that pesky Barry Burn and Sergio Garcia are involved. It's not often you see someone double bogey the 72nd hole and walk away with the Claret Jug, but that's what Paddy Harrington did. Honorable mention to Tiger's plane ride back to Orlando on Father's Day night. He got there just in time to see his daughter born.

Pick: Phil and Tiger battle it out at the Deutsche Bank
Video: Final-round highlights | Mickelson looking forward to '08
The final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship was the most spine-tingling of the season, bar none. Such is the case when Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods go toe-to-toe down the stretch. This time Mickelson was able to hold off Woods on the back nine in the kind of taut scenario golf needs to see more often.

Pick: Mahan, Williamson battle it out at the Travelers Championship
Video: Final-round recap | Mahan's shot of the day
There isn't a tournament that can come close to the climax that Hunter Mahan and Jay Williamson gave us at the Travelers Championship. Two players who had never won a golf tournament played like their lives depended on it. Hunter hit it inside the grip on the 72nd hole to force a playoff, and then he did it again on the first hole of the playoff. Hunter created the drama by dropping shots late on the back nine but he did what he had to do to win the golf tournament. Sure there were some exciting finishes in the majors. But the Travelers Championship proved once again that you can't overlook any week on the PGA TOUR.

Pick: Padraig Harrington's Open Championship win

And we thought nothing could top Jean Van de Velde's collapse at the 72nd hole of the 1999 Open Championship at Carnoustie. Well, guess again. The venerable course again served up one for the ages as Padraig Harrington made a water-logged double bogey on the final hole on Sunday, but persevered in a four-hole aggregate playoff with Sergio Garcia. The victory was the first for a European in a major in eight years, and Harrington was the first Irishman in 60 years to drink from the Claret Jug.

Pick: Padraig Harrington's Open Championship win

Saving double-bogey after hitting two balls in the water on the 72nd hole at Carnoustie not only was an impressive display of composure, but it also saved Padraig Harrington from an infamous association with Jean Van de Velde. Harrington also needed Sergio Garcia to miss a championship-winning par putt at the 72nd hole to get into a playoff, which he received. Once he got there, Harrington was solid in claiming his first major title.
