Player: Brandt Snedeker
Date: Jan. 25, 2007
Score: 61 (11 under)
Tournament: Buick Invitational
Finish: Tied for third

Key Stats: 1 eagle, nine birdies, no bogeys. He missed only one green. He used 27 putts.

Outcome: Snedeker only got one shot at the North Course at Torrey Pines, and he amazed the field with his remarkable run of birdies in Round 1. Starting on the back nine, Snedeker didn't make a par until his eighth hole of the day. He then birdied the 18th -- his ninth hole of the day -- to go out in 27.

Snedeker then birdied the easy par-5 first hole to go 10 under on the day. Breaking 60 seemed to be very well in reach, but the fun stopped there -- seven straight pars ended any hopes of becoming the first PGA TOUR player to shoot 58. Still, Snedeker birdied the par-5 ninth to shoot 61.

Even though the North Course at Torrey Pines was the easiest course of the year on the PGA TOUR, the round served as an introduction of Snedeker, who went on to win the Wyndham Championship in September.

Player: Zach Johnson
Date: Sept. 15, 2007
Score: 60 (10 under)
Tournament: The TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola
Finish: Tied for second

Key Stats: 1 eagle, eight birdies, no bogeys. He missed three greens. He used 24 putts.

Outcome: The lowest round of 2007 came in the third round of the final event of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. Johnson became the 20th player to shoot a 60 on the PGA TOUR after rains soaked East Lake, robbing the course of much of its defenses.

Still, Johnson's brilliance can't be understated. Even on the difficult par-3 sixth, Johnson nailed the 208-yard tee shot to two feet. he had a chance to shoot 59 when he eagled the short par-5 15th after hitting a 2-iron to 15 feet.

Johnson needed a birdie at the par-3 18th to shoot 59, but the hole is a 223 yards to a difficult green. Johnson nailed a 2-iron to 60 feet, but his birdie putt rolled 20 inches past the hole.

Johnson went on to finish in a tie for second, a full eight strokes behind winner Tiger Woods.

Player: Jesper Parnevik
Date: Oct. 4, 2007
Score: 61 (9 under)
Tournament: Valero Texas Open
Finish: Second

Key Stats: 10 birdies, one bogey. He missed three greens. He used 25 putts.

Outcome: Parnevik opened with a blazing 61 at the LaCantera G.C. in San Antonio, going out in 30 after bogeying his first hole.

The key for Parnevik was the par 3s -- he birdied three of them. He also birdied the only two par 5s on the par-70 layout. It was the best round of the day by four shots.

Parnevik came back in Round 2 with a 65 for a two-day total of 125, the lowest 36-hole score on the PGA TOUR in 2007. Despite the hot start, Parnevik lost in a playoff when Texas native Justin Leonard blazed his way to a 65-64 on the weekend to tie Parnevik, who shot "only" a 69 on Sunday to lose ground.

Player: Mark Hensby
Date: Oct. 16, 2007
Score: 61 (9 under)
Tournament: Fry's Electronics Open
Finish: Second

Key Stats: Nine birdies, no bogeys. He missed two greens. He used 25 putts.

Outcome: Hensby fired the best round of his career on a course he had never seen before. Hensby entered the event 151st on the money list and flirted with missing the cut after opening with an even-par 71 on the short 7,125-yard course. Hensby added rounds of 66-69 to come within a shot of Mike Weir, who broke 70 in all four rounds.

Hensby had arguably the best week of his life on the green -- his 108 putts for the week were a tournament low.

The solo second finish ensured Hensby's PGA TOUR card for the 2008 season. The Aussie had entered the tournament 151st on the money list.

Hensby's Scorecard
