Vancsik claims two-shot edge after three rounds in Madrid MADRID, Spain (AP) -- Daniel Vancsik shot a 4-under 68 Saturday to hold a two-shot lead after the third round of the Madrid Open.
Vancsik, who had nine birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey, was at 13-under 203. Mads Vibe-Hastrup was second after a 67. The 18-year-old from Northern Ireland who is making only his third start as a professional, was tied with Alejandro Canizares, who shot a 72, four shots back of Vancsik. "I know Sergio Garcia won (the Irish Open) on his fourth start as a professional and this is only my third, and if I can shoot another 66 tomorrow you never know what could happen," McIlroy said. Gregory Bourdy (68), Marcus Fraser (65), Santiago Luna (66), Manuel Quiros (69) and Jean Van de Velde (71) are five strokes back at 8 under. Copyright 2007 Associated Press. All rights reserved. |
