Fans Congratulate Howell

Feb. 20, 2007

Editor's note: Charles Howell III won his second PGA TOUR title on Sunday at the Nissan Open. Here are some of the e-mails PGATOUR.com received congratulating Howell, who is headed to Hawaii for the season-opening Mercedes-Benz Championship in 2008.

Congrats Charles! I was very glad to see you win again. I hope to see you at the Masters. Please tell your grandfather, Mr. Hall, and your mom and dad, I said hello. I have not seen them in a while. Take care, Bert Durand

Hey Charles, All the Walking Scorers at the 2007 Nissan Open want to say congratulations on your amazing win. Hopefully it removes the sting of the playoff with Mike Weir a few years back. I went with your group on Saturday (when you couldn't buy a break) and saw first hand how you scraped and clawed to stay in the hunt. Best of luck in Arizona at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship, and throughout the rest of the year. Mel Wanamaker, Walking Scorer Chair, Nissan Open presented by Countrywide.

Charles, Great Win on Sunday! Looks like the hard work is paying off. Keep winning, it's fun to watch! Joel McGeough

Congratulations! Well done and well deserved. Chirag Batki

Charles: I always knew you would be back to the front of the pack. It's been a tough few years, but congratulations on working so hard and not giving up. Now keep it going. You've broken into the "Select 7" with Tiger, Phil, Furyk, Adam, Vijay & Ernie. Keep playing like your last month & you can even catch Tiger at the top. He won't be playing much this year. Terry Bennett

I have lived in Norman, Oklahoma for 25 years, and of course I am a big OU fan. I am one of those supposedly rare birds that also enjoys pulling for OSU whenever their opponent is not OU. I was watching the finish of the Nissan Open from the pro shop at the OU golf course, and I can tell you that no one was disappointed in your success on Sunday. Those of us in Oklahoma are all proud that you chose our state to play your college golf. Everyone here knows how nice a young man you are and I hope I speak for all Sooners in wishing you sincere congratulations on your victory, and good luck at the Masters. Herbert Skidmore

Congratulations on your victory yesterday. We have followed your career since seeing you at age 14 in 1993 in the USGA's Golf Journal. It was great fun to watch you beat Phil. We were members at Riviera in the 70's when no one was reaching 17 in two shots. I was also astonished to see you knock a wedge over the 18th. That hole was a 3 iron even for the longer hitters back in our days. Congratulations again. Tom Coles

Congrats on grinding out a great victory Charles. I found a lot of fresh inspiration in your result, especially your clutch putting. It shows what a difference putting in the hard work can make. It inspired me to start working a lot harder to elevate my game and improve my short putting also. You are an inspiring young man! Bruce Lindley

Congrats Charles, Keep up the effort, you are indeed a model for PGA TOUR players. A true gentleman! Bill Cronin

Charles, I'm your biggest fan and am loving watching you play so well after a few rough years. Your game is SO HOT right now. I can't wait to see you SCORCH Augusta National in a few weeks. Your friend, R. Allen

My wife and I have been pulling for you since we first saw you as a Junior playing in Portland, Oregon. We are pulling for you to win more money this year than in all the previous six years. That should make you "player of the year". Your wife and parents must be so proud! We will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on May 30th, 2007 and you have provided us with a great present with your steady play this year. Keep it up, we will be praying and pulling for you and sending you vibes. Don & Effie Kalberloh

Congratulations, Charles. Great win! I, too, was saying a prayer for you over that putt. I wish you continued success. Nancy Masterson

Charles, Just wanted to say congrats! As one of your biggest fans I have really had a great time watching you on the TOUR this year. I hope you keep up the great work and continue to dominate the TOUR! Clay Solomon

Your win was very inspiring. It reminded me of a great verse about how David was unbeatable when facing Goliath because of his faith. Keep it going Charles! Bobby Arbias

Dear Mr. Howell, CONGRATULATIONS! My name is Thomas Horton and I have attended the David Leadbetter Junior Academy for the last four summers. I met you three years ago when you signed a Callaway Visor for me when I won a putting contest at the Academy. I, too, have worked with Kevin and the last two years with Ron, and Adam Bazelgette at Nemacolin. I have been a huge fan of yours ever since I met you and you were so nice to me at 11 years old. You have had a great start to the season and I hope I see you at Champions Gate when I go back this summer. My Pro in Maryland, Mr. Robert Dolan, gave me a huge picture of you last year and my dad framed it and put it on my wall next to Tiger's picture. Play well this week in the Match Play. Good luck! Your friend, Thomas Horton
