Fans Congratulate Goydos Editor's note: Paul Goydos won his second PGA TOUR title on Sunday at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Here are some of the e-mails PGATOUR.com received congratulating Goydos, who will head to Hawaii for the season-opening Mercedes-Benz Championship in 2008. I'm a friend of your brother Peter from when he lived in Connecticut. Congratulations! My family always watches for you when tournaments are broadcast and we are really pleased with your victory! Tom Congratulations from your Wilson High golf buddy! Drinks on you at Rec Park! Bill Dodson Way to go, Paul! I hope this is the start of a great run for you. H. W. Collier Awesome finish Paul! You were on my fantasy golf squad so I was glued to GOLF CHANNEL watching...Great Job! Mike from Minnesota Dear Paul, I had the pleasure of meeting you at a clinic you gave at Kaneohe Marine Base on Oahu four years ago which was greatly appreciated by both active and retired military personnel and their families. Congratulations on a fine win at the Sony Open in Hawaii and continued success on TOUR. Bill Gernhardt Dear Paul, First, congratulations on your win. I have followed your career since reading "A Good Walk Spoiled" when it first came out (undoubtedly because your road to the TOUR was [and has been] considerably more in doubt than most). I was both elated and thankful when you took second--to keep your card-- when the TOUR ended last November. I hope you enjoy this win for a nice long time. I will. It was something special. It is very hard out there--and so few pros (relatively speaking) win tournaments--so for you to play as well as you did down the stretch (not to forget your 63)--well, what a great way to start the year. Best wishes for continued success, but enjoy this one. It was a gutty performance. Pat Sheeran Just spoke to Roger...He sends his congrats as does the crew from V.C.C. Best of luck in the desert. Hope to see you there. Petey You were really nice to me when I caddied for you (Tulsa, 1992), and you remain a player and person who's very easy to root for. I just wanted to say congrats on the win and general great play over the past few months. Long may it continue! Murray Zelnick Hi Paul, I don't know if you remember, long ago on the Hogan Tour I caddied for you in the Utah Open in Provo. I was a young married student at BYU and you were just beginning your career. You had won a couple weeks before, but it didn't carry the benefits it does now. You were so kind to me, and I had an absolute blast that week--and you made the cut. You took the caddie apron from me and let me play the last two holes of the pro-am on Wednesday as the "pro"-- Something I'll never forget. Anyway, I've followed your career since that weekend. I always check to see if you're in the field, and how you are doing. I was really happy to see you keep your card last year--in dramatic fashion- and I'm always pulling for you. I was so happy to see you get your second win! Congratulations to you and yours. Long Beach will be proud! Take care--your No. 1 fan in Idaho! David Marlowe P.S. If you ever need a caddie in a pinch, (or a pro-am partner) I'd be willing. My business can do without me for a week. Congrats Paul! My wife and I met you, after your second round at Bay Hill, and were very impressed with your demeanor in the aftermath of a very disappointing two days. Since that time we have been pulling for you even more, and were impressed with the grit you displayed at the Houston Open to keep your card for the balance of 2006, and were ecstatic with your performance in Tampa at the end of the year. And yesterday was over the top! As you were walking up 18, I took out the hat that you signed for me, as a good luck talisman, and lo and behold-it worked! Speaking of work-you have worked hard and deserve whatever good fortune comes your way. Enjoy it, and continued success! Lionel Goldman Congratulations! I admire your perseverance and your attitude. Good luck at the Bob Hope! Kraig I would just like to say congratulations on a spectacular win at the Sony Open the other day. You have been one of my favorite golfers for a while now and I will always root for you. You are such a class act and will always be a winner in my book. Best of luck to you the rest of the season! Joey K Welcome back to the winner's circle Mr. Goydos! You did what you had to do, and pulled it out in the end...good on you! A special congrats and a very big MAHALO to Hawaii's Tadd Fujikawa....an inspiration in the perseverance of humanity! David Rodman Congratulations on a great win. I watched every shot and I am sure my heart was beating faster than almost any one I can think of. Look forward to you having a great year and I will see you at THE PLAYERS Championship if not sooner. Our restaurant, Mackenzies, also sends their regards. Don P.S. Hi to the girls. |
