Nationwide Tour Graduate Q&A archive

Editor's Note: Brad Elder finished 17th on the 2007 Nationwide Tour money list, earning himself an exemption for the 2008 PGA TOUR. He won in impressive fashion at the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open in early August. He carded three rounds of 65 or better in that event and scored his third career Nationwide Tour win.

Elder recently spent some time with PGATOUR.com's Dave Lagarde for a game of 10 questions.

1. If the PGA TOUR allows music on the first tee what song will be used to introduce you?

Elder: The Eyes of Texas, (Elder graduated from the University of Texas).

2. What was your most embarrassing moment on a golf course?

Elder: It happened at q-school last year. I whiffed on a three-inch putt. The good news was I didn't miss by one.

3. You have the power to alter any rule in the game of golf. What is it and why do you want to change it?

Elder: I do not think a player should be able to move rocks in a hazard like a trap. Some weeks we can and some weeks we can't. I don't understand. You can move a rock if you hit it in a water hazard.

4. Who would you most like to hit balls next to next year, and why?

Elder: I've already been out there enough so I want to do my own thing.

5. Do you have any oddball superstitions? If not, what's the strangest one you've heard of?

Elder: Not really. And I just don't get why guys mark coins from a year with a number they want to shoot.

6. When your putt rolls in to win your first PGA TOUR title, will you go with the Tiger fist pump, the Mickelson mini-vertical jump or something a little crazier?

Elder: I'm sure I'll go with the fist pump, but first I've got to get there.

7. Other than winning a tournament, what would make next year a success?

Elder: For me it would be playing consistent golf. If you play consistently everything will take care of itself.

8. You've been granted a 60-minute sit-down with any figure in the world of golf, living or dead. What's your first question and to whom would you address it?

Elder: It would have to be Ben Hogan. I'd ask him how he went about things, how he practiced, how he learned and about the way he learned.

9. What is your wildest golf dream?

Elder: Winning a major and it doesn't matter which one.''

10. What is the most valuable lesson about your profession you learned on the Nationwide Tour?

Elder: I've had to come back down (from the PGA TOUR). So I guess it would be you can't take anything for granted and you must work hard.
