Nationwide Tour Graduate Q&A: Michael Letzig Nationwide Tour Graduate Q&A archive Editor's Note: Michael Letzig finished 12th on the Nationwide Tour money list in 2007. He tallied a career-best T3 finish at the HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship, finishing just one stroke out of a Nicholas Thompson/David Morland IV playoff. He moved into a share of the lead after 36 holes, but a 7-over 79 in the third round dropped him well down the leaderboard. Still, Letzig rebounded with a 7-under 65 in the final round to pull within one of the leaders. Letzig also finished inside the top 10 at the Athens Regional Foundation Classic (fourth). Letzig sat down recently with PGATOUR.com's Dave Lagarde for a game of 10 questions. ![]() Michael Letzig (WireImage)
1. If the PGA TOUR allows music on the first tee what song will be used to introduce you? Letzig: Hustlin' by Rick Ross. It has been on repeat for a month on my ipod in the gym. 2. What was your most embarrassing moment on a golf course? Letzig: I had the wrong yardage one time and kept hitting perfect shots into the water. I made a 10. It was in a Canadian tour event. It was exactly like the movie Tin Cup. 3. You have the power to alter any rule in the game of golf. What is it and why do you want to change it? Letzig: I would like to add a three-putt maximum per green. Think that would have helped me more than once this year. HA!. 4. Who would you most like to hit balls next to next year, and why? Letzig: I'm going to practice with Jason Day. Wait until the world sees this kid he has "it". 5. Do you have any oddball superstitions? If not, what's the strangest one you've heard of? Letzig: I play Titleist balls marked with the number 44. No particular reason just seemed like a good mark. I always have to have three white Titleist tees in my pocket and and old quarter like from 1908 and a new one, usually a Missouri one. 6. When your putt rolls in to win your first PGA TOUR title, will you go with the Tiger fist pump, the Mickelson mini-vertical jump or something a little crazier? Letzig: I hope i hole out from the fairway so I can high five the whole gallery all the way to the green. 7. Other than winning a tournament, what would make next year a success? Letzig: I just want to get better every day and make some new friends along the way. 8. You've been granted a 60-minute sit-down with any figure in the world of golf, living or dead. What's your first question and to whom would you address it? Letzig: I would like to know how Tiger prepares for tournaments when he is building a game plan for each week. 9. What is your wildest golf dream? Letzig: I'm living it. It is amazing all the places this game has taken me and I love it all. 10. What is the most valuable lesson about your profession you learned on the Nationwide Tour? Letzig: You have to keep the big picture in your mind that you are trying to become one of the best in the world. One day's performance good or bad doesn't define who you are as a player. I believe in Karma too so you gotta keep doing the right things and expect to be great. |
