'08 Nationwide Tour Championship signals turning point

A lot has changed since David Duval won the first Nationwide Tour Championship in 1993 and took home the first place prize of $36,000. The Nationwide Tour announced this week that the 2008 event will boast a purse size of $1 million, the largest in Nationwide Tour history.

The winner of next year's Nationwide Tour Chamipionship will earn $180,000, exactly 5 times the amount Duval won 14 years ago. In addition, the final money list leader for the 2008 season will be granted a coveted invitation to THE PLAYERS Championship in 2009. Next year's Nationwide Tour season will surely be one to watch, and an exciting time for players to compete for record purses and PGA TOUR playing privileges.
