Oregon winner Kyle Thompson now one win away from PGA TOUR, joining Roland Thatcher

With his playoff win on Sunday in the Oregon Classic, Kyle Thompson joined Roland Thatcher as a two-time winner on the Nationwide Tour this year. Thompson, who eagled the final hole to get into a playoff, jumped from 27th to 7th on the money list, all but securing his 2008 PGA TOUR card in the process. Thompson and Thatcher are both one win away from joining Australian Nick Flanagan on the PGA TOUR. Flanagan earned his third Nationwide Tour win last month in the Xerox Classic in Rochester, N.Y. The 2003 U.S. Amateur champion makes his first appearance as a PGA TOUR member this week at the Turning Stone Resort Championship near Syracuse, N.Y., the first TOUR event he is eligible for since securing his card.

Tadd Fujikawa to make first Nationwide Tour start in Boise

The 16-year-old from Hawaii who splashed onto the golf scene with a T20 at the PGA TOUR Sony Open in January makes his first Nationwide Tour start in Boise. Since turning professional on July 12th, he has played in one PGA TOUR event (Reno-Tahoe Open) and one European Tour event (Omega European Masters) but did not make the cut in either. Roland Thatcher finished T6 in Seattle, his sixth top 10 of the year, pushing him to $401,632 in earnings. Nick Flanagan remains No. 2, with Jason Day at No. 3 - $72,493 - behind Thatcher. Dealing with a large blister on his right heel on Sunday, Day dropped from T2 to finish T14. The Australian teenager, however, regained the top spot in the Tour's All-Around ranking.

"The 25" update

Matt Jones' runner-up in the Oregon Classic was his second in the last three tournaments. He is now 10th on the money list and has all but solidified his 2008 PGA TOUR card. Argentina's Miguel Carballo, who won the Tour's season opener in Panama, is this week's man on the hot seat at No. 25. He has a $7,000+ edge on Jay Williamson and $10,000+ on No. 27, Chris Nallen.

Watson/Stadler and Gore/Zuback team to win big money for Boise charities

Bubba Watson and Kevin Stadler teamed up to put big smiles on the faces of the two charities they played for in yesterday's Kraft Shoot-Out presented by J.A. and Kathyrn Albertson Foundation at the Boise Albertsons Open. The Community Detox Center, a project with United Way of Treasure Valley, and Treasure Valley Family YMCA Horsethief Camp accepted checks for $330,000 and $250,000, respectively. Representing the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games and Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County/Meridian County, the Jasons, Gore and Zuback, did much of the same for their charities, earning $250,000 and $170,000 for each organization, respectively. Highlights of the day included Kevin Stadler's hitting his tee shot to 4 feet, 3 inches on the par-4 15th hole and Jason Zuback's 410-yard drive on the par-5 16th, which he followed with a wedge to 3 feet for eagle.

One of the originals

The Albertsons Boise Open is one of four original events from the Tour's first year (1990) that remains on the schedule (Knoxville, Tenn., Springfield, Mo. and Wichita, Kan.). One of the Tour's most successful and innovative events, it has raised nearly $6 million for Idaho charities. Albertsons, title sponsor of the event since 2002, has been its lead sponsor every year since 1990.

Snedeker sets earnings mark with $2.8+ million

With $2,836,643 (17th) in 29 starts this year, 2006 Nationwide Tour graduate Brandt Snedeker has already set a new single season earnings record for a Nationwide Tour graduate on the PGA TOUR. He surpassed the previous mark set by Australian Mark Hensby ($2,718,766) in 2005. A strong Fall Finish by Boo Weekley, who has earned $2,401,517 (23rd) in 26 events, could overtake Snedeker. Through the FedExCup Playoffs, Snedeker is considered by many to be the PGA TOUR's leading Rookie of the Year candidate.
