Nationwide Tour E-Notes: Week of August 20, 2007

Aug. 21, 2007

Nick Flanagan became the eighth player in Nationwide Tour history to earn a three-win promotion to the PGA TOUR, but the first international player to do so.

Brandt Snedeker's win last week at the Wyndham Championship was the 211th by a former Nationwide Tour player on the PGA TOUR. He's the 14th player in Nationwide Tour history to graduate to the PGA TOUR and win the next season.

• The Class of 2006 continues to shine on the PGA TOUR. Not only did Brandt Snedeker win last week, but 16 of the 22 players qualified for the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup.

• For the first time in tournament history, the nines at the Pete Dye Golf Club will be reversed?with tournament officials expecting to create a more intimate atmosphere at the par-4, 497-yard 18th hole, which ranked as the fourth-toughest at last year's tournament.

• After D.A. Points cruised to a five-stroke win during the inaugural tournament in 2004, the last two tournaments have been nail-biters. Jason Gore began his improbable run to three straight wins in 2005 with a one-shot victory over Doug LaBelle II, while Jason Enloe parred the first extra hole a year ago to edge Boo Weekley.

• Among the top four on the final leaderboard the past two National Mining Association Pete Dye Classics, three players have gone on to win on TOUR after teeing it up at the Pete Dye Golf Club. In 2005, Jason Gore followed his victory with a win that same season at the 84 LUMBER Classic, while fourth-place finisher Chris Couch went on to win the 2006 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Last year's runner-up, Boo Weekley, prevailed this year at the Verizon Heritage.

• Jason Enloe is the first winner of the National Mining Association Pete Dye Classic who failed to graduate to the PGA TOUR following his victory. Enloe finished the season No. 48 on the money list, with $124,128. He earned 87 percent of his season's earnings at the one event ($108,000). Should Enloe prevail this week in West Virginia, he'll become the first player in Nationwide Tour history to successfully defend a title. This season, Enloe is 65th on the money list, with $65,815.

• Since the National Mining Association Pete Dye Classic began, there has never been a hole-in-one. Yet current PGA TOUR member Ken Duke, who tied for 12th at this event last year, had one of the tournament's most memorable shots. During the second round in 2006, he had a double eagle on the par-5 eighth hole after hitting a driver and then draining a 4-iron from 216 yards.
