This year is no exception with 50 of the current top-57 money winners entered. ![]() Nick Flanagan Omaha history on Flanagan's side Omaha would be a fitting place for Nick Flanagan to capture his third win of the year and the PGA TOUR promotion that would go with it. Of the seven players who have achieved the three-win promotion, three have done so at the Cox Classic presented by Chevrolet -- Jason Gore/2005, Heath Slocum/2001 and Chris Smith/1997. Summerhays to make Nationwide Tour debut ![]() Daniel Summerhays Fresh off his July 15th win in the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational, Daniel Summerhays will make his professional debut in the Cox Classic presented by Chevrolet. Summerhays, 23, was an amateur entry in the Columbus, Ohio invitational event by virtue of his first-team All-American status. The win gave him the option to join the Nationwide Tour, provided he turned professional, which he decided to do last Wednesday. Summerhays could earn his 2008 PGA TOUR card if he plays his way into THE 25 by the end of the 2007 Nationwide Tour season. He is currently eligible for 12 full-field events. Given his amateur status when he won, he begins his Nationwide Tour career with no official earnings. The 25 update Sunday's Price Cutter Charity Championship winner Tom Scherrer was the only player to move into THE 25. He entered the event 62nd on the money list and by week's end he was 14th. Australian Greg Chalmers, who did not play in Springfield, MO, dropped one spot down the list to No. 26. James Driscoll now sits on No. 25. Ogilvie records 207th PGA TOUR win for Nationwide alums Joe Ogilvie's win in the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee was the 207th win in a PGA TOUR event by a Nationwide Tour alum and the 12th of 2007. Did you know? There have been only three 59s in the history of the Nationwide Tour (the lowest score in the Tour's history), with Jason Gore posting his in dramatic style in the 2005 Cox Classic. He eagled the final hole after driving the 315-yard ninth hole at Champions Run. Gore went on to win the tournament in a playoff which sealed his three-win promotion to the PGA TOUR. |
