Q&A with Peter Tomasulo PGA TOUR staff Editor's note: Peter Tomasulo is a Southern California native who went north for college, graduating from the University of California in Berkeley in 2004. Following a 47th-place finish on the money list during his rookie year on the Nationwide Tour in 2006, Tomasulo has returned to the Tour and made the cut in six of his first seven events of 2007, including a tie for 14th at last week's Athens Regional Foundation Classic. Tomasulo recently visited with Laury Livsey of the PGA TOUR's communications department and answered a few questions. PGATOUR.com: You're from Long Beach, Calif., where the Queen Mary is docked. Have you ever visited the famous ship? Tomasulo: Yeah, when I was little. But not lately. ![]() Peter Tomasulo has made the cut in six of seven starts this season. (Cox/WireImage) PGATOUR.com: What's the best part about Long Beach? Tomasulo: I just love Southern California. I grew up there. It's my favorite city. PGATOUR.com: What about people from New York who say their Long Beach is the real Long Beach? Tomasulo: I don't even consider their opinion. Long Beach, California, is the real Long Beach, as far as I'm concerned. PGATOUR.com: What part of Italy are your grandparents from? Tomasulo: San Fele, not far from Potenza, in the, I think, southern part of the country. PGATOUR.com: How were you in geography class in high school? Tomasulo: No good, obviously. And I had a geography class in college that I was horrible in, too. PGATOUR.com: Did your final grade have a minus attached to it? Tomasulo: My grade was pass. That's all I'll say. PGATOUR.com: What's the favorite meal your mom makes? Tomasulo: She makes a pasta with an onion sauce. My mom is really good in the kitchen. She married into the Italian side of the family and is an awesome cook. PGATOUR.com: If you could only watch one movie the rest of your life, what would it be? Tomasulo: Ricky Bobby ("Talladega Nights"). I'm a big fan of Will Ferrell. PGATOUR.com: Who's the most famous non-golfers you have played golf with? Tomasulo: I played with Mark McGwire and Mark Langston in Newport Beach. A buddy of mine set it up. McGwire is good. He hits it hard. He hits it as hard as anybody I've ever seen. PGATOUR.com: What was the last non-golf sporting event you attended? Tomasulo: I went to the (San Francisco) Giants' opening game against the Padres. My buddy from college just got season tickets in the right-field bleachers. I like (AT&T Park) a lot. It was a perfect day. PGATOUR.com: What's your best Nationwide Tour memory? Tomasulo: Winning the Alberta Classic two years ago. I just remember coming down the stretch and playing really well on the back nine on Sunday. It's kind of ingrained in my memory. PGATOUR.com: In high school, where did you go on your first date? Tomasulo: I went to Knott's Berry Farm with a girl named Marissa Hill. PGATOUR.com: What number are you in your family? Tomasulo: I'm the fifth child of six. So we have a big family. PGATOUR.com: Do any of your brothers or sisters play golf? Tomasulo: My older brother is just a year older than me. He's a good player, probably a 2 handicap. He's caddied for me a few times. He doesn't get a chance to play too often. He's working on his master's right now and working, so he has a busy schedule. |
