Nationwide Tour notebook The Nationwide Tour resumes tournament play March 19-25 at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by Dynamic Industries in Broussard, LA (Lafayette area). Le Triomphe CC is the host site for the 16th year in a row, making it one of the Tour's oldest events. Johnson Wagner captured the first of his two 2006 wins there last year on his way to finishing No. 2 on the final money list. Mark Wilson's victory at The Honda Classic was the 200th on the PGA TOUR by a former Nationwide Tour player. Wilson, a University of North Carolina graduate, called a two-shot penalty on himself on Friday that could have cost him his first win. When Wilson determined that his caddie, Chris Jones, had innocently shared a club selection with Camilo Villegas' caddie on the fifth hole, he sensed there had been a rules infraction. Upon completion of the hole, he conferred with a PGA TOUR rules official, who confirmed his suspicions and two shots were assessed to his score. After two subsequent holes of no discussion between Wilson and Jones, Wilson put his arm around his caddie and said, "Hey, let's go. Let's go play golf," which is exactly what they did over the next 50 holes. Nine of the top-12 finishers at The Honda Classic were Nationwide Tour alums....winner Mark Wilson, Boo Weekley, Camilo Villegas, Tripp Isenhour, Steve Stricker, Daniel Chopra, Brett Wetterich, J.P. Hayes and Arron Oberholser. Did you know Nationwide Tour president Bill Calfee led the PGA TOUR in driving distance in 1982 with an average drive of 275.3 yards. The two-time University of Maryland All-American (1970, '71) played 168 TOUR events from 1976 to 1985. The Class of 2006 has performed well in the early going on the 2007 PGA TOUR. A total of 16 of 22 graduates are among the Top 144 on the FedExCup points list, headed by Jeff Quinney who stands 11th overall. In fact, seven of the players are among the Top 50. More on the Class of 2006: Ten of the 22 players have already posted Top-10 finishes on TOUR this season. They've combined for 14 Top-10 finishes, including four by Jeff Quinney.
