Notes for Nationwide Tour

Feb. 6, 2007

• 200th WIN MILESTONE LOOMS -- With Aaron Baddeley's FBR Open victory on Sunday, the next PGA TOUR win by a former Nationwide Tour player will be the 200th. Three of this year's five PGA TOUR winners have Nationwide Tour roots. Baddeley joined fellow Tour graduates Paul Goydos and Charley Hoffman in the 2007 PGA TOUR winner's circle. Of the 199 TOUR wins, 10 have come in major championships.

• A LOOK AT THE FEDEXCUP POINTS LIST -- It reveals that five of the top 10 on the current FedExCup points list, including leader John Rollins, and 17 of the top 30, once played on the Nationwide Tour.

• NATIONWIDE TOUR TO BE WELL REPRESENTED AT 2007 MASTERS -- Of the 100 invitees to this year's Masters, 28 have ties to the Nationwide Tour. They are: Stephen Ames, Stuart Appleby, Chad Campbell, Stewart Cink, Tim Clark, Ben Crane, Chris DiMarco, Joe Durant, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Lucas Glover, JJ Henry, Tim Herron, Zach Johnson, Jerry Kelly, Troy Matteson, Shaun Micheel, Arron Oberholser, Rod Pampling, Tom Pernice Jr., Brett Quigley, Jeev Singh, Steve Stricker, Vaughn Taylor, David Toms, Camilo Villegas, Brett Wetterich, Dean Wilson.

• FUNK NAMED HONORARY CHAIRMAN OF D.C.-AREA TOURNAMENT -- Fred Funk has agreed to serve as Honorary Chairman of the Nationwide Tour's new Washington, D.C.-area tournament, the Melwood Prince Georges County Open. The Country Club of Woodmore in Mitchellville, MD will host the event May 21-27. Funk, who grew up in College Park, MD and attended, then coached golf at the University of Maryland, said "I'm delighted the state of Maryland is hosting the Nationwide Tour. It's a place where I have a lot of friends and love to play golf. I hope fans in the region will come out and see the event because they're going to see some great players who will be competing on the PGA TOUR in the very, very near future."

• POTTER BREAKS THROUGH -- Ted Potter, Jr. made his first Nationwide Tour cut in the recent season-opening Movistar Panama Championship. As a 20-year-old rookie in 2004, Potter missed the cut in all 24 of his starts. He earned Player of the Year honors on the Hooters Tour last year, winning twice and earning more than $100,000.

• Aaron Baddeley's win last Sunday at the FBR Open was the 199th PGA TOUR victory by a former Nationwide Tour player. Former players have won three of the first five events of the year (Paul Goydos, Charley Hoffman were the others).

• Winning is always great, but winning the season-opening event is really good. The last five season-opening winners have gone on to graduate to the PGA TOUR at the end of that season.

• The Class of 2006 continues to excel with Jeff Quinney earning his third consecutive Top-10 finish on the PGA TOUR. All told, the Class of 2006 has already earned eight top-10 finishes in the first five weeks of the season.
