Over half of the final field already assured spots in playoffs

HARRISON, N.Y. -- With just three weeks remaining in the PGA TOUR Regular Season, 74 players have guaranteed themselves a chance to become the first-ever FedExCup champion.

Players ranked 1-74 in the current FedExCup points standings can't be knocked out of the top 144, and therefore have qualified for The Barclays, the first of four tournaments in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup.

The Barclays, held at the Westchester Country Club in Harrison, N.Y. from Aug. 20-26, offers a $7 million purse and will feature the top 144 players from the year-long FedExCup points standings on the PGA TOUR. The winner of The Barclays will take home $1.26 million, and the top 120 players in the points standings after the tournament will advance to the next Playoff event in Boston.

Currently leading the FedExCup points standings is Tiger Woods, followed by The Barclays defending champion, Vijay Singh.

Singh, the tournament's all-time leading money winner with more than $2.1 million, is the only three-time winner of The Barclays (1993, 1995 and 2006).

Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson, K.J. Choi, Zach Johnson, Charles Howell III, Rory Sabbatini, Adam Scott, and Steve Stricker complete the top 10.

Ian Poulter (currently No. 74 in FedExCup points) is the last player to have secured himself a spot in The Barclays field.

Woods, Singh and Furyk have locked-up top 15 seeds in the PGA TOUR Playoffs and Mickelson, Choi, Johnson and Howell clinched seeds in the top 30. The top 24 players in the current FedExCup points standings will be ranked no lower than the 70th seed to start the Playoffs.
